Farewell, Erfurt

Early February 2023…

it was time to take leave of this very special place. For the many warm responses to my exhibition I can only say thank you. Some visitors had travelled far to discover historic Erfurt. Others found their way into my exhibition by "chance". In my view there are no coincidences, only gentle guidances. So I was grateful for every e-mail that brought me feedback on my work.

In my experience, an exhibition comes down far more quickly than it goes up. This time was no exception. We had an extra pair of hands from my schoolfriend Olaf, who had travelled all the way from my home town.

From the bottom of my heart I thank Mr Hohenberger, director of the Pax Bank, for the idea, and the parish of St. Laurentius for their openness in allowing my large works to be hung in their church. Since I cannot be present throughout an exhibition, I rely on the attentive care with which the people on the ground accompany the showing of my pictures. For this wonderful support I am also deeply grateful.

A gentle melancholy at having to leave this special place mingles in my heart with the anticipation of what the new year may bring. "It simply happens."
