In March 2015 I received an e-mail from Frau Hesse, director of the Strandvillen Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom. She had seen my exhibition in Görlitz and, as she wrote, was enchanted by the "lightness and the colours of the pictures". She invited me to exhibit at her hotel. The invitation delighted me. I was fascinated by the nearly one-hundred-and-fifty-year history of the building, which stands right beside Fischerstrand. History and sea lend the house a character all its own.
Hanging the exhibition was a true pleasure. It was unusually warm for early April. The beginning of spring showed itself at its loveliest. Through the open terrace windows one could hear the waves at play.
A school class came to the opening. In a conference room in one of the outbuildings the children painted on the theme "A Handful of Shore".
It was a difficult farewell from the pictures. As dusk settled we went for a last walk out to the pier.
The exhibition was originally meant to hang for three months. The pictures suited the character of the house so well that it grew into almost two years. In 2017 the Strandvillen Bethanienruh became the Strandvillen Heringsdorf - with the same team, a new logo, and many new ideas.
